Children Gail Stoy, Director of Children’s Ministries Nursery Care Sundays, 9:30 – 12:00 Noon Children of any age are welcome in church, but care is also available for our youngest members, birth through two years old, in our warm, well-equipped nursery. This care is available during the 9:45 a.m. service, and also during the education time which follows it, so that parents can attend the Adult Seminar. Children’s Chapel I
During the 9:45 a.m. service, children age 3 – 2nd grade begin in
church with their families, and then leave for a special service of the
Word, led by Gail Stoy, Director of Children’s Ministries, or one of the
clergy.
Children’s Chapel II Twice a month, children in grades 3 – 5 also go to a special service of the Word, with one of the clergy. In addition to acting out and discussing the Gospel, they learn hymns, and become familiar with the Prayer Book.
Sunday School Telling God’s story, Sharing God’s love Held immediately following the 9:45 service, our Sunday School is based on the Rotations model. The children work with one Bible story for a month, rotating through a series of workshops, which are based on “doing”, rather than simply sitting and discussing. Workshops often include cooking, art, drama, music and games. Even members of St. Michael’s who don’t have children enjoy and participate in our hallway displays and projects. Children and their parents also enjoy other traditions through the year, including the annual Walk through Holy Week, the Flowering of the Cross on Easter Sunday, a very lively Vacation Bible School, the blessing of the pets in October, and the Christmas Pageant.
