Youth Groups

The Rev. Margaret Holt Sammons, Co-Rector

Welcome to the Journey to Adulthood!

Following the 9:45 service, young people meet for active learning and lively discussions, in one of the three phases of the Journey to Adulthood program:

Rite 13: 6th – 8th graders

J2A: 9th – 10th graders

Young Adults in the Church: 11th – 12th graders

Each group also takes part in monthly recreation and outreach activities, and summer service trips.  They also come together to lead the service on Youth Sunday in the spring, take the older roles in the Christmas Pageant, and help with Vacation Bible School.

Acolytes

Each Sunday at St. Michael's, young people of the parish perform the time-honored task of assisting the clergy in the service. Children are invited to become acolytes in 5th grade. Guided by a Senior High captain, and serving in teams of 4, they learn to carry candles in the procession and serve at the altar. Junior high and older young people become crucifers, and assist at baptisms.
